Supernatural sudden-girlfriend appearance (with a storyline) But what anime that looks like it’s straight from a dating sim doesn’t have those similiarities?
Yorito takes pictures at 4 a.m., Aono is Yorito’s sister who is in a hospital and likes origami, Matsuri lives for over hundreds of years and is a yaka, Takeshi tracks down Matsuri and has a loli looking yaka side-kick named Mayuko who seems like a cosplayer and then there’s Mana, who’s the stereotype girl-nextdoor and a friend of Yorito and who has a little sister named Koyori, who is friends with Aono. So far the characters. Just so you know, yaka is short for the Japanese words for night woe. Night woe, what the heck? Yes, it’s weird. It doesn’t even sound like correct English to me, no matter the way you translate yaka. I’m not going to type a whole storyline, as you can easily find those on the net.
So, my comment so far will be that this is a stereotype sudden-girlfriend appearance, but with a storyline, a bit of romance and no ecchi and which is nicely animated. Those are all the good things that I have to say. The seiyu are simply chosen for their cuteness and only have to be cute or smart or whatever what makes them moe. Not to mention that they made it pretty predictable with just one scene in the first episode. At least according to my information…
Current overview:
Story: 7. Supernatural sudden-girlfriend appearance with a bit of romance and plenty of drama.
Animation: 8. What else to expect from a anime that is drawn by Nanao Naru, who usually draws for bishoujo games.
Sound: 6,5. The only thing that the seiyu from the girls have to do is being cute and don’t let anyone hear some emotion, at least that’s what it looks like. The opening and ending are the only thing that actually fit.
Characters: 6. Every character is simply said a stereotypical person with one or two characteristics that makes them weird.
Enjoyment: 6. The story isn’t interesting enough to keep my attention with it and well, otherwise I wouldn’t write this review that’s about 3 episodes of a series which is 13 episodes long (or better said, short).
Overall: 6,7. 7 on MAL.
Anime that are similiar to this one that are even better:
ef - a tale of memories. Also has character design from Nanao Naru.
Happy Lesson. More harem-ish and not so serious, but is more enjoyable then sola.
Kure-nai. A lot of drama and action, but with a seinen-feel.
Spice and Wolf. Same feel, except StW has a better feel, is way more enjoyable and the genre is fantasy, not supernatural.

Cute bacteria and gapholes in the storyline.
Moyashimon has a pretty much unique storyline that it contains the research on bacteria, but it also has a lots of gaps in the story. Tadayasu and Kei attend the Agriculture University and they end up befriending Hasegawa, Kawahama, Misato and Itsuki-sensei. Accidents and research on bacteria are the mainstory, while even this short anime of eleven episodes contains fillers and those are mostly about the campus life, like the festival episodes. Kei disappears for some weird reason somewhere halfway and you’re left with a vague answer why, even at the end of the anime. Hasegawa’s background is explained, but you don’t get to see how it will end. One thing that was pretty interesting was the sudden loss of Tadayasu’s ability. Well, you’ll have to see for yourself why he lost it, as I don’t feel for spoiling right now. That’s why this is a pretty short review.
Story: 8. A unique story that you don’t see often, but it’s unfinished and that’s why it isn’t anything higher.
Animation: 8. It flows good, but there are some points that it’s a bit less. Also a very cute opening animation!
Sound: 7. Fitting seiyu with the characters, but nothing special. The opening is okay, but the ending music kind of sucks.
Characters: 9. Everyone has his own issues and make progress which makes them realistic and ofcourse there are those loveable bacteria!
Enjoyment: 9. A lot of laughs.
Overall: 8,2. 8 on MAL.

Ah, yes, Ichigo Mashimaro. Just a quick review, because there isn’t much to talk about. It’s just a happy, go lucky slice of life anime. I can capture this whole anime in one phrase:
Suitable for loli and moe freaks only and isn’t something you’ll miss.
It all starts with Nobue Itoh, who’s introducing herself. She calls herself a high school student of 16 years old, but in fact she’s 20 years old and goes to college. According to the anime. Then some other characters are introduced, like her younger sister Chika and often called Chi. Someone crashes into the room through the window and that can only be person, Miu. Miu lives in the house next door and often visits Nobue and Chi, as she can easily jump over the roof of the garage to the Itoh’s garage and can jump in the room when the window is open. Then there’s Matsuri, a shy girl with a ferret. Oh yeah, the girls call Nobue onee-chan as they’re pretty familiar with her. Nobue’s birthday is coming up, so the three girls start thinking about some ideas and they end up making ash tray, which doesn’t go that easy. They fall asleep one after another, they wake up and get slapped by a paper fan, fall asleep again and so on. Ana is introduced in the next episode. She’s actually from England and speaks fluent Japanese, but she tries to put on a act and acts like she doesn’t know a single word Japanese and so on. Matsuri ends up helping Ana regaining her English.
So, what makes Ichigo Mashimaro interesting? The only reason why I started watching it, is because I saw this superb AMV at the AnimeCon 2007 and it made me interested. I just finished it and well, I can say it’s overrated. It’s about a girl with a moe fetish named Nobue who’s surrounded by loli-characters and are typical. Cute characters, flat design and highly irritating voices. The animation was okay, but that’s it. The whole anime isn’t that much worth of watching, except when you’re a loli freak and like moe.
Story: 6. Slice of life. You can’t expect a real story here. Just about a bunch of loli characters and their life.
Animation: 7. Nothing special.
Sound: 6. I can’t stand highly annoying childish voices. One of the main reasons why I like Nanoha StrikerS better than the first two seasons.
Characters: 6. Nobue is the one who gives it a boost. They don’t show any development at all, except for just one scene and that’s it. Oh, please.
Enjoyment: 8. Had some good laughs, but that’s it.
Conclusion: 6,6. Rounded up a 7.
Recommendations:
Aishiteruze Baby. A show that does have character development.
Chi’s Sweet Home. Cute slice of life about a cat who lives with a family.
He is My Master. Funny show about two girls who end up as maids. For the moe and comedy factor.
Mahoraba ~Heartful Days. This one is a slice of life and reminds a bit of Love Hina, but is way cuter and has development.
