Idiotic tests

Long time since I updated. I really wanted to update, but… I got my hands full already. Which is quite a good thing. Well, I just finished my tests for the time being and I have my holidays now, so I have plenty of time.

Speaking of tests, I started Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu. I was really wondering if I should start watching it or not and as I heard a lot of positive sounds from here and there, I decided to actually pick it up. The first thing that I noticed are the awesome, or more like, hilarious, fighting scenes. They make it look like they’re actually playing a RPG and it really adds humor to the series.  More good stuff if you need your weekly dosis of tsundere-ness, provided by Minami. There are also Himeji, the shy but smart bishoujo and Hideyoshi, who is pretty much used as a trap.  So, why is this anime actually funny and good, while there are stereo-typical characters? Probably because they continue each episode with where they left off.  Another reason? No ecchi sighted. Well, that’s a plus for me, at least. A lot of puns, running gags and oh my, there’s even a… taser. Yes, a taser. Well, I don’t feel like spoiling too much, so I’ll go on to the technical section: animation and sound. Sound is fine, nothing really ordinary. The seiyu are okay, nothing really awesome. And as for the background… You can hear when a certain character’s coming up. Well, that adds up to the humor or it makes you cry, your pick. The animation is really colourful and it made me remember of one of my favourite anime ever: ef. I was (w)right, it’s actually from the same director who made ef and Bakemonogatari. This time with a budget, unlike the horrible flashing scenes of Bakemonogatari. Yes, I’ll continue to watch Baka to Test, as I really like it. It’s certainly the funniest anime of this season to me.

Gaming update: currently playing Phoenix Wright. Well, I pretty much finished 1 and I already played the first bit of 3, which was not a smart thing, so I’ll first go on with 2. I really want to play the new game with Edgeworth in it… Edgey!

Also a small update on Ookami Kakushi:  it actually got pretty cool from episode 6 on.  Well, I said that, but at least episode 6 is pretty cool. It still didn’t make up for all the worthless episodes before it, really, but if it continues like this, I’m content with it.

Winter Anime 2010

Yes, it’s finally time for some new anime! I’ll discuss the first episode(s) of the following anime:  Dance in the Vampire Bund,  Sora no Woto, Ookami Kakushi and Durarara!! First up are Dance in the Vampire Bund and Ookami Kakushi.

Dance in the Vampire Bund

This really started out weird.  I never read the manga, but it’s kind of weird to have an anime in … talkshow style. Well, the real story starts at the end of the episode. Little girls are deceiving. So… Shaft is back to it’s vampire roots, just like Tsukuyomi Moonphase. Plenty of funky music in DitV. I guess DitV will be one of the real typical SHAFT anime. I have to say that I felt like there were some Code Geass references… Well, not that Code Geass is really original or anything. ‘In my name, I command you: die!’  Sounds familiar? This first episode made me quite looking forward to the next episode. It’s not really what I expected and I haven’t got a clue what this will turn into. I took the subs of SFW and those were fine, too bad the video quality isn’t HD, so I can’t really say much about the animation. It reminded me of Moonphase, which was fine.

Ookami Kakushi
Ah, I only wanted to watch it because it had some designs of Peach-Pit and that’s the thing that I didn’t like about Higurashi: those horrible character designs. I didn’t really like Higurashi, but I do like Umineko. For that reason I thought I’d give this one a try. Let’s set up.  There’s a red moon. A guy gets confessed to by a girl in a spooky manner and after that, another girl appears… With a scythe.  Just a preview, or so it seems. Just like with Higurashi etcetera. Hiroshi and his little sister Mana just moved to Jouga. He meets the girl from the preview and oh my gosh, she actually GLOMPED him on their first meeting. Really, what the heck? A cat bell rings. Anyhow, seems there’s a wolf spirit legend going around in Jouga. Blabla. Sounds familiar? Once again. Hiroshi just keeps getting glomped by the girl named Isuzu. Another girl is introduced: Kaname. The silent purple-haired girl finally speaks as well: she’s Nemuru, the class president. Seems like she has some kind of scary-factor, as she has some kind of power to make people obey and said that he is annoying. Hah, she’s just jealous. Blabla, Hassaku are some kind of mandarins, seems like there’s a Hassaku festival coming up. Sounds familiar? I wonder how a wolf god is related to fruit. Bla bla, old town and new town and they live in the new town. Seems like the nights start early. A classmate got nuts and got killed by the scythe-girl, or so it seemed. Well, this really is just like Higurashi. The music and soundtrack are pretty cool. Wolf goddess… Mononoke-hime? Fine animation. gg Is subbing this (just like with all the other Higurashi-related stuff, or so it seems), so I took those subs. At least there’s a high quality video.

I recently finished Seitokai no Ichizon and my rewatch of Nanoha StrikerS. First off, Seitokai no Ichizon. It was funny, but not really a must. Sugisaki is just a small step closer to his harem ending. Well, it’s fine if you want to have a good laugh and if you feel like wasting your time. There are some pretty nice episodes about the characters, especially the one about Ken. Not to mention the hilarious episode with Chizuru in a sheep costume saying mokyu.  Here are some screenshots of Seitokai no Ichizon.

On a side note: I finally beat Tales of Symphonia, of course with the Kratos ending. I  kind of liked Zelos, but as I met Kratos earlier, there’d be no way I’d Zelos more than Kratos. Plus, Kratos is awesome. He really needs his own spin-off. Tales of the Fallen Angel. I’m in!

Hm-m, this is not cool. I don’t have a new anime to talk about and I didn’t finish an anime recently to talk about. I need to watch some more, but without actually dropping my grades… My pc is stuffed with anime of which I’m still in the middle of watching. To sum it up: Bleach movie 3, Gintama, Kuroshitsuji (just four episodes), MSLN Strikers, Mononoke, SaiMono, Seirei no Moribito and Super GALS! And that’s without my regular anime… I still need to catch up with Seitokai no Ichizon and Yumeiro Patissiere. Guess I’ll go watch those first.

So far with Tales of Symphonia: I’m still not at disc 2. I fail. I’m still busy with the Temple of Darkness. Aska and Luna will be after that. Stupid weird shadows.

Bzzz!

Ahaha, it went pretty well… I have the Rheairds back and got Colette back! Colette sure makes it annoying, getting kidnapped on and on… You have wings, you know. Use them! There was this funny skit in or around the Temple of Volt with Presea and Lloyd. I don’t want to spoil the fun, so you’ll have to watch it yourself. Anyhow, I’m now in the Temple of Earth. I got there till the part of the second little gnomelette, which wanted me to cook it a nice curry meal. So, I got the recipe and returned, but then… I didn’t have any onions left. I had to buy some in Ozette and returned in the end. Next up: beat the boss. Well, what a shock.

A fantasytastic story

Just a quick update.

I’m on a roll with Tales of Symphonia now. I already made it to Tethe’alla. And I recruited Presea and zum-zum-zum… Zelos! I already like him. Very usefull to get a lot of usefull healing items for free.  So, where am I? Currently in the sewers of Meltokio and about level 29. Well, that’s what you get if you get dumped by Kratos. Still, Kratos. Yummy. Yummy. O right, I have Zelos now. I miss Kratos. I like his old equipment better.

Hummu-hummu. I still have a lot of anime to watch that I plan to watch, like Seirei no Moribito. Well, I started it today. I thought I would need to get used to the whole art and so, but seems like that wasn’t neccesary. It’s quite nice to watch, pretty much fluent. Even more fantastic is the soundtrack. It is really fitting, but also gives it more quality then there already was.  Balsa is a cool character, as the best spear wielding person and an woman as well.  Finally, a character that starts off strong. I’m looking forward to see Chagum develop into a fine young boy.
